ABCO delivers buildings fully assembled. They are all built in Wilcox, which is the location of the factory and delivered to our lot and other lots in the area or they are delivered straight to the customer’s house from the factory. In other words, ABCO does not build on-site and does not sell kits to construct the buildings. We need plenty of room for delivery, which means any gates need to be the width of the shed plus a minimum of 1 foot wider (2’ is preferable) than the shed. If the gate is any narrower than the preferred minimum, this just means extra time for delivery because the driver will need to be absolutely careful as he pulls the building through the gate. In most cases, a post can be removed from the gate and the fence paneling or wire pulled back to allow easier access. This would be the responsibility of the owner to take care of ahead of time. ABCO will not remove posts or move other obstructions in order to deliver the buildings. For alley access, we will need a much larger opening depending on the width of the alley and the angle that the shed will go into the opening.
“Mule” used to transport buildings
The “Mule” above is a forklift machine that ABCO carries behind the cab of the truck and allows us to get through gates and areas without having to bring the entire truck in. The ABCO truck and trailer used by our drivers is very long. In some cases, the driver can back up to the spot to deliver a building like this.
Then he tilts his trailer and carefully slides the building off. Once the building is on the ground, ABCO uses the Mule to level up the building with pressure treated blocks and shims. However, in most cases, the Driver unloads the building near the spot for the delivery and then uses the “Mule” to pull or push the building through a gate and to the setup spot for the building.
Brian and Aleyna Lassen own the transport company and also manage the plant operation in Wilcox for ABCO. They are the nicest people have some great employees that are always willing to go above and beyond on any delivery. For deliveries that do take longer than normal due to adverse conditions-bad roads, weather, steep hills, etc., there is an extra fee for the delivery. This will be on a case by case basis and will be set up with the transport company ahead of time. The transport company is available to move other buildings as well.
As you can see the mule is about 4’ long by 3’ wide. Therefore, we do need adequate space around the building to maneuver it into place and properly level it. The driver lifts the building up using the mule and uses pressure treated blocks and shims to level it up. We recommend that the grade be relatively flat, within 6” across the area. It does not need to be perfectly level for setup.
ABCO delivery and setup are all included in the price. We do not charge extra as long as the delivery site is within 50 miles of “any” dealer for a new build. For one off of the lot, the property would need to be within 50 miles of that particular lot, which in our case is all of Tucson metro and most surrounding areas, from Marana down to Rio Rico and Three Points to Benson. ABCO charges $6 per mile for anything over 50 miles. Because of the number of dealers in Tucson, we cover pretty much the entire metro area for free delivery of a new build including Tucson, Marana, Vail, Sahuarita, Green Valley, Three Points, Oro Valley, Catalina and beyond. Free delivery is also included for Amado, Arivaca, Sonoita, Patagonia, Rio Rico, Oracle and San Manuel.
In the instance there is a wall surrounding the house and the gate is too narrow to bring the building in with the Mule, we may be able to crane the building in to the backyard. Depending on the size of the building, we can easily crane buildings up to 100’ in reach length. For our largest size buildings, we can reach up to 30 to 40 feet. We would need to perform a site visit to verify that there are no overhead obstructions and that the reach length is sufficient. The cost of the crane is separate from the building cost and will paid for their services separately. Crane installation quotes will be provided on a case by case basis. ABCO does require a substantial deposit up front for crane deliveries (Note: Rent to Own is not an option on crane installs). The crane company is a separate company from ABCO and will be paid for their services separately upon delivery.
